Life Events

It’s that time that we planning for next year and closing out this year. One of my personal goals is that I want to make a difference in the world. Sounds like a big goal and  I know that I am only one person, but I believe that together each our efforts will make an BIG impact.

I want to share with you a few of my favorite groups that I enjoy supporting; that are solid charities, not just at the end of the year but throughout the year.

Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude supports U.S Service members and their families by sending 100,000+ care packages each year that are put together by volunteers with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions. And they also include their children left behind while deployed overseas with care packages.

Our celebration today is made possible because of these amazing men and women that help to protect our freedom and independence so that we can Celebrate America’s Birthday today!

I would like to ask you to take the time to read this post, it might just change the life of a Service Member or someone close to them…

We still have Tens of thousands of troops deployed, many of them that have seen multiple tours in remote and hostile regions around the world. During these deployments away from their families and friends along with the conditions they have to endure, we need to give them our support. I was looking a way to help support our Troops overseas, especially during the Holidays. One group I found and support is Operation Gratitude.

When my car came to a rest alongside the road, Friday The 13th - Rich Miller I realized it was over..

After all of the loud sounds of metal tearing, the scrapping and breaking glass, everything was now silent.

I sat there looking straight at the road; it was still pitch dark outside I could barely see, but there was dirt, glass and tree limbs everywhere…

It was dark inside my car as the engine was not running… no interior lights working
I could tell that the whole interior had come apart, headliner hanging from the ceiling of the car, my seat was bent backwards, the steering wheel bent too…

I thought to myself – Could I move? Is the car on fire? I could not smell smoke or see any flames; I did not smell gas, but I knew I had to get out of the car just in case..

I felt for the door handle and tried to open the door, but it was jammed.
I hit the inside of the door with all of my strength and the door opened enough for me to get out.

Once I got on my feet, I fell straight to my knees; shaking I crawled a few feet away from my car and got to my feet again.

Did I ever tell you how I lost my job?
– By Daegan Smith

I think the story will be insightful.

There I was …

Minding my business and I get a call on
my phone.

Not a number I recognized, but …

I picked it up anyways.

It was the CEO of the company I was
working for with a message.

(I thought it was strange that the CEO
was calling me out of the blue, it
hadn’t happened before so I had a
sinking feeling “something” was up.)

In a five minute conversation …

What Is Your Definition of Success?

Have you asked yourself what is your true meaning of success and did your path lead to your ideal lifestyle that you had dreamed? I’m not talking about how much money you spent in education, Suits or the newest gadget. Did you go off course and end up going in a different direction than you had envisioned? If so what did it cost you in your relationships, health and network of friends? How many times have you called home and tell your spouse that you had to work late, or go to a dinner meeting because it was for the benefit of your career? How many times have you walked into the house, only to sit in front of your computer to knock out a project that you could not accomplish during normal work hours? The bottom line is; Do you control your time and have the balance in your life that you wanted and mapped out?

Success; Finally I Made It

After my last employer went out of business, I landed a Job as a project manager for a big software implementation and I was working like a beast to keep on schedule. At the time I thought I was doing pretty well for myself; making good money and had some good company perks. In the middle of the project as a reward for all my hard work, I received a bonus to go to the Porsche High Performance Driving School in Birmingham Alabama all expenses paid. Not only was this really cool but I was able to take along my Son who was 15yrs old at the time. Now you have to admit it was a pretty cool deal, I was going to drive some of the best made $100K +performance cars in the world for two days Continue Reading….
